Dressing for Portrait Success

At Bjorn Fine Art Portraits, our studio is meticulously designed to create your fine art wall portrait as a stunning masterpiece. For your timeless wall portrait, it is crucial to adhere to specific styles and colors of clothing while avoiding others.

We kindly request that you dress in formal attire, as this will likely be the most elegant portrait you will ever possess. Keep in mind that most of our portraits are full-length. So, remember to wear appropriate shoes that complement your outfit. In general, we recommend wearing dark-colored clothing to maintain focus on the face and eyes, rather than the attire. Alternatively, neutral colors photograph well with our background. Avoid stark white.

With our vast experience of 20 years crafting portraits, we have found the following guidelines to yield the best results:

For Masculine:

  • Opt for dark jackets (tuxedo or suit), paired with a white shirt, tie, dark pants, and proper dress shoes.

For Feminine:

  • Choose dark-colored dresses or gowns (black, navy, burgundy, dark green, etc.).

  • White lace around the collar is acceptable, and we prefer minimal or no patterns.

  • Feel free to adorn yourself with classic jewelry such as diamonds, pearls, etc.

  • Don't forget to select fabulous shoes to complete your ensemble.

For Young Girls:

  • Preferably, dress them in dark or jewel-toned solid dresses. However, ivory, cream, or off-white dresses can be complementary to olive and darker skin tones.

  • Choose appropriate dress shoes to complement their outfits.

For Young Boys:

  • Follow the same guidelines as men, including a dark-colored jacket or a solid dark sweater.
